You would be lucky to know Mary and Lewis.

They love and treasure their family and friends without limits and i sense this day was as much about those people as it was about themselves.

They do all this without effort or a second thought, it is who they are, and I am privileged to be called their friend and to have been there on that day.

Here is their beautiful, rustic garden wedding (with no rain).

Here i am on the 1st of January looking back into the past for some badly needed inspiration. 2011 took it out of me, in many ways.

I have never done much with these old shots from my trips to America in 2004 & 2006, my camera sucked (although at the time i was probably pretty impressed), i had a Pentax Mz50 film camera with a lens that is not worth remembering. I had little knowledge of how to use a camera, and less about light. Looking back now they are ordinary but retro and grainy and i am surprised at what i could do with not much.

I have always had the opinion that a good photographer could use anything and still make something of it. So while a camera update is needed, here is to being a good wife, mother and photographer with whatever i have this year.

I can't do this couple justice in a few short sentences.

I don't think i've witnessed such tenderness between any two people. Honestly.

This is the real deal, i'm sure of it.

I met them before this day - it wasn't a wedding day performance (cynical thinkers out there).

They seemed to become super powered versions of themselves in the presence of each other, and it felt like their love for each other was old and mature.

What a pleasure it was to capture this day for them.

I love how Scarlett has grown to deal with her hair and its intrusive nature, it's always in her eyes, stuck down the back of her shirt when she gets dressed. I often find breakfast in it. She flips it around without noticing it except when i brush it, and then she howls for the knots in it. I try to soothe the process by telling her Rapunzel would have knots in her hair too (this works). She promises she is going to dye it pink one day...for her wedding.

The zoo

I might as well entitle this whole blog "My family album" since i am not getting around to any other photography. I have too many interests and too much happening in life right now and i'm ok with it for a little while longer. In the mean time here is yet another post of my kids.

We went to the zoo yesterday, it was pretty good mostly because i had the foresight to wear tights under my jeans so i didn't freeze. These pictures were my favourite of the day, i think because i noticed Parker become aware of something bigger than he is in his own mind, i'm thinking for the first time ever . He went from over-tired hyperactive to very still, with his face pressed up against the glass watching the seals swim in patterns around the tank.

He is a fearless, potent little person, and his 2 year old body and mind are not big enough to contain him yet. There is nothing passive or conforming about him, but watching him be in awe of something he couldn't change, reach or test the limits of was really...relaxing.

Scarlett/Ariel is 5! Oh my goodness! Incase you can't tell, she is wearing a highly desired Little Mermaid outfit, and getting a little emotional about the thoroughly discussed and planned little mermaid cake. it warmed this Mummy's heart so much to see her so happy.

Yesterday I found Parker in the middle of a rite of passage, being made over by his sister. I think he gets bored when his sister has her bff over and just wants to join in, regardless of the consequences. I found it so funny that none of them thought it was even remotely strange to be putting makeup and a crown on a boy!

This past weekend we took a little trip to the beach, just the four of us!

We ventured down to Ocean's Grove which is a little town down below Geelong.

I am in love with the ocean at winter time. A good reason for fire places and big jumpers is all i need and this place did not disappoint...it was FAAAREEEZING!

Here i am forcing my family to stand still while i take a picture. Although it doesn't look like it, Parker isn't bothered by the cold one bit. He is having a tantrum because firstly he wasn't allowed in the ocean and secondly, we were on our way back to the car.

So, i let him run around instead at the risk of everyone getting sick!

I recently had the pleasure of shooting a wedding {at the last minute} in place of my brother who was busy having a baby, his wife was actually. I was hanging around Brisbane for the weekend just incase little Jett decided to arrive on the day of Jenna and Marty's wedding, and he did! These guys rolled with the punches remarkably well given they had no idea Phil could not be their photographer until about 15 minutes before i arrived. They were super cool about the whole thing which i thought was rare bride/groom behaviour! Here are a few shots from the day.

Nath recently came to my rescue at an emergency wedding shoot { big bro was the booked photographer until his son made his entrance into the world on the same day }. It was a massive day, especially knowing in the back of my mind there was a new member of the family coming into the world. Nath saved my life driving me around, carrying bags and camera's. Phew, i couldn't have done it without him! Took some pics while we ate lunch and scouted locations. A nice memory :)

Happy New Year!

It's eight hours into 2011 and I can already feel the year gaining momentum, as i woke up thinking

about all there is to do with life this year. I felt the need to post something today to start the year off

with something creative!

This is my beautiful, kind hearted Scarlett experiencing one of the top moments of her little life. I

have been asked to refer to her a 'Butterfly Scarlett' just about every day since this lovely encounter.

{It's a little annoying that the date above my new year post is December 31st...}

I've been digging through old pictures of past trips to America and last night I found these from Granville Island in Vancouver, from 2005. Strangely I had never seen them before!!

Granville island is one of my favourite places that I have ever been to. Markets, art, amazing food, the best restaurant experience of my life...I have to get back there.

For the last 4 years (while having 2 kids and moving a fair bit) my love of photography has sadly been pushed to the side as a "if i have the time" kind of hobby, rather than a serious career. This year I decided not to waste anymore spare time and start to make serious strides towards releasing some of my pent-up creative energy. This first post is of my daughter Scarlett.
